El trabajo de Patricia Dauder gira entorno a la percepción y representación, más allá del entorno inmediato del mundo físico y objetual. El estudio y la experimentación con la forma, la materia y la estructura son los puntos de partida a través de los cuales desarrolla sus ideas sobre el espacio y el devenir del tiempo. El conjunto de imágenes y formas que aparecen en dibujos, películas, telas, esculturas o fotografías, son el resultado de largas jornadas en las que la artista condensa su observación directa del mundo natural y su acción sobre la materia. Presencia y ausencia, masa y vacío, unidad y fragmento, desgaste y rastro en la naturaleza o en las construcciones humanas, son algunas de las ideas que reverberan en las frágiles formas que resultan de sucesivos procesos de hacer, rehacer, añadir o sustraer.
Protoformas es un ciclo cerámico realizado en Cuenca, en el taller de alfarería José Encalada e Hijos cuyas morfologías remiten a algo ancestral o primario, entre lo vegetal y lo cultural. Las piezas se cocieron con la colaboración de Iván Encalada, utilizando la técnica de la cerámica negra basada en sistemas de quemado antiguos, originarias de diversas zonas del continente suramericano.

Patricia Dauder’s work revolves around perception and representation beyond the immediate environment of the physical world and its objects. She studies and experiments with form, material, and structure to develop her ideas about space and the process of time. The set of images and forms in her drawings, films, canvases, sculptures, and photographs are the result of long work sessions in which the artist joins together direct observation of the natural world and action performed on matter. Presence and absence, solidity and hollowness, wholeness and fragmentation, erosion and trace in nature and in human constructions —these are among the ideas that resonate in fragile forms yielded by an incessant process of making and remaking, of adding and subtracting.
Protoformas is a ceramic cycle made in Cuenca, in the workshop of José Encalada e Hijos pottery, whose morphologies refer to something ancestral or primary, between the vegetal and the cultural. The pieces were cooked with the collaboration of Ivan Encalada, using the technique of black ceramics based on ancient burning systems, originating in different areas of the South American continent.

In & Out presenta una compilación de fotografías tomadas desde mediados de los noventa hasta 2016 que constituyen tanto imágenes de viajes como documentación de trabajos. La mayoría de dispositivas pertenecen a una serie de trabajos procesuales iniciados en 2015 consistentes en enterrar y exponer a la intemperie objetos creados por la artista, durante varias semanas, con la idea de integrar el paso del tiempo y las variaciones medioambientales a las piezas. “La interrumpida secuencialidad de las imágenes —anota Dauder— crea una cierta percepción ambivalente, enfatizada a momentos por la sobreposición de dos imágenes distintas”.

In & Out, is a compilation of photographs—images of trips and documentation of works—taken from the mid-nineties through 2016. Most of the slides are from a series of process works the artist began in 2015 in which she buries and exposes to the elements objects of her own creation for weeks at a time. The idea is to bring the passage of time and changes in the climate to bear on the work. “The images’ interrupted sequentiality,” Dauder observes, “creates an ambivalent perception, emphasizing at times the layering of two different images.”
